This art by Linda Stephen is made from inventing and folding hundreds of origami sculptures, choosing handmade papers, and assembling the pieces over three months. The papers are primarily Japanese washi handmade papers. The water for the fountain is sculpted from tengujoshi, the world’s thinnest paper. The artwork took three months to create
"Broyhill Fountain in Origami" was commissioned by the UNL Alumni Association magazine Nebraska Quarterly as an illustration for the Winter 2024/25 feature article “Found Families,” pp. 42-47, about the 550 student-run clubs that offer ways to connect with those who share similar passions, from ball-room dancing to origami.

Inspiration: The UNL campus community in early fall. The location is the Meier Plaza on the north side of the Nebraska Union on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus. Can you see Oldfather Hall? The Raikes School? Hammocks? Honey locust leaves in golden yellow?
