This year, “1,000 Birds of Peace,” an inspiring work of public art, will be installed in the church sanctuary. The floating artwork will involve more than 3,000 origami birds created by children and adults alike, from throughout the community. This very special display will represent a prayerful longing for peace.
Award-winning origami artist Linda Stephen will be one of 12 featured artists showcasing bird-inspired art inside the Parish Hall. Her exhibit will be selling framed origami collage landscapes featuring sandhill cranes and geese as well as origami jewelry and gifts.
Origami crane workshops for all ages: At 1:30 p.m. during the festival May 2, Linda will lead visitors step by step in folding an origami crane, an ancient symbol of peace and health. This free class is designed for beginners ages 8+. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
Origami crane workshops for public art: In March 2026, the church will host free origami crane-making workshops for the public. Teaching artist Linda Stephen will share step by step how to fold an origami crane from a square of paper. Participants can make a crane to take home and also contribute their paper cranes to the work of art “1,000 Birds for Peace.” For upcoming workshops, see holytrinityartsfestival.com/
