Mixed-media origami collage incorporating Ghanaian waxprint and batik fabrics with papers of the world. Commissioned work for the sister cities collection of the J.W. Marriott Hotel, Grand Rapids, Mich. 32”X40”
For this commissioned artwork for the J.W. Marriott Hotel, I researched famous sites in Accra and researched market wares. I interviewed friends who had been to Accra and Ghana and received batik fabrics and photos of markets, people and vegetables. In addition to folding papers, I starched and folded Ghanian fabrics and incorporated those in the art.
