Hiking in Sedona

Commissioned work for private collection.  The patrons are a retired couple who are active hikers and enjoy spring in Sedona, Arizona each year. They provided the artist with about 50 photos of their favorite places to hike in Sedona and close-up images of spring flowers in the desert. This project included inventing designs for origami desert wildflowers and folding intricate paper flowers to less than 1/8 inch in diameter. The project took two months to complete.

Medium

Paper collage and invented origami of chigiri-e fine Japanese papers, Indian and Italian marble papers, and invented origami sculptures of mountains, hikers, evergreens, and flowering cacti.

Inspiration

The expansive views, blooming cacti and wildflowers of Sedona, Arizona hiking trails in the spring.
